Yoga unites the mind, body, and soul in a way that eases tension and promotes health and well being. Regular practice improves your breathing and outlook on life. Yoga helps you to maintain good balance as you age and is a wonderful way to meet others desiring better health.
Yoga is a great way to improve your endurance for other physical activities. After a workout, yoga will help your body relax while stretching and strengthening. We use the breath work studied at UMMC, which has been documented to lower the blood pressure.
Yoga not only improves your body, but also helps with mindfulness. The breath work of 5:5 ratio, used by UK physicians, that we do in class, has been proven to increase lung capacity. The gentle movements help arthritic joints to feel better, and our meditation of the Psalms and other scripture verses help in dealing with depression.
